Due to recent COVID events and increased community transmissions we are required to ensure we comply with all state requirements to: A. Minimize the chance of COVID spread, B. Minimize the number of members having to isolate if and when another member becomes COVID positive.
With the correct protocols in place, we are hoping to avoid 7 day home isolations for members who share classes with someone who is asymptomatic and tests positive in the days following.
To ensure this, we need to adhere to the 2 square meter rule for spacing. Our lines on the floor have their own 2sqm box and we also have 20 pull up bars. Due to this, for the time being, we will be capping classes at 20 people, as we have previously during increased COVID restrictions.
To guarantee your spot in a class, you simply need to reserve a spot via Zen Planner. Using your login (email you supplied when joining) the easiest way to reserve a class is via the Zen Planner App (downloadable in any App store). You can also do it via the browser login here https://crossfitclaremont.sites.zenplanner.com/calendar.cfm
Currently, the only class that reaches this cap consistently is the 6am class. Therefore, to ensure all members who prefer morning training are able to attend a class, we are going to change the 6am and 7am class to 5:30am and 6:30am. This means at the absolute worst you just need to get here 30 minutes earlier or 30 minutes later.
I would encourage people to book into any class time they are intending to go to. As we have done previously during increased COVID restrictions, if there are already 20 people booked in for a class you will go on a waitlist. If someone cancels their reservation, you will receive an email and will now have a spot reserved in that class. Reservations are not able to be cancelled within an hour of commencement, so please ensure you cancel any reservation with ample opportunity for another member to fill that spot.
Currently, the health guidelines state that anyone having a face to face conversation for 15 minutes or more, with a person who later becomes COVID positive, is deemed a "close contact" and will have to self isolate for 7 days. With this in mind, while in the gym please ensure you are practising social distancing and wearing a mask. Masks are required anytime you are not vigorously exercising. If you're feeling unwell at all, please avoid attending until you are feeling well and have received a negative PCR or RAT test.
Now for some good news! We have new classes!
The first will be a teens class on 3.45pm Wednesday this week! This class for the month of March will be free. If you are a current teenage member, this class won't count as a used session. We would love to make this a comfortable and fun place for our teens. This class will also be open to any of our younger members who may be just under teenage age.
The second change is to our 10am class on Sunday. This class will now be "Posterior, HIIT and Bend. It will be broken up into 3 sections: Posterior: With the large amount of sitting we do in our life and often overactive quads and hips, our glutes are often something that people have difficulty in using during exercise and can be a lagging muscle group. A strong posterior can be a huge factor in reducing knee and back pain. After quite a few people suggested this in our last survey, we are excited to add it as a new inclusion!
HIIT: High-Intensity Interval Training. This part of the workout will be simple exercises in a interval style workout. Bend: Another thing people expressed interest in was a Yoga class. We thought we would include some mobility work at the end of this class to help your flexibility in different positions and to promote general recovery. This class will begin in March. You can view the timetable here.
As always, we want to thank all of our members for your ongoing support during these unprecedented times. Our goal through it all remains the same, achieving overall health and fitness and having fun doing it!
If you have any issues or questions, feel free to contact me at any time.
See you in the gym!
