When, how and why did you get started with us? I think it was early 2021 during covid times. Mac and I used to go to the UWA library to study (which often turned into more chatting than actual studying). I remember Mac sending me a link to the CrossFit Claremont website, announcing that she had signed me up for a week-long trial and would pick me up on Sunday morning. I used to be really anxious going to any gym, but I instantly felt comfortable and welcome at CrossFit Claremont. Now fast forward a few years, Mac and I are housemates / best friends and still share lifts to CrossFit most days. What would be your dream workout? Something with rowing, deadlifts and some dumbbells What workout would you want to avoid? Anything involving running, burpees, or box jumps definitely makes me hesitate... And the 100 million lunges at the rugby club. Favourite Crossfit Athlete? Coach Liz! You can tell she genuinely loves what she does. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable and patient, but she also makes everyone feel really valued. Her classes are always such a positive and fun environment to be in! What's the best thing you own that costs under $100? My plants! I probably have too many, but I love them. I get so happy when I see a new leaf coming! Also, my non-stick frying pan. Biggest fashion mistake you've ever made? Side fringe – no explanation needed. Favourite quote? Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better. What's your fav 90s jam? Steal My Sunshine – Len What was the last thing you watched on TV? Jury Duty The funniest thing that happened to you recently? Entering a mixed doubles tennis tournament with my boyfriend… It didn't exactly go as planned. It was a comedy of errors (mostly by me), but I managed to laugh through the tears. We've learned our lesson and probably won't be doing that again anytime soon. Most used emoji? 🫣 If you could have another CrossFit Claremont members attribute, what would it be? Nate has such a genuine positive attitude, it's infectious. It's like he leaves a trail of happiness wherever he goes. Even at the crack of dawn on a freezing winter morning, he somehow manages to be in the best mood, maybe even busting out some dance moves. Nate is always there, ready to offer support, find the perfect words of encouragement (usually as he tells me to put more weight on my bar), or lend a listening ear.
