Our member of the Month is someone who has been a member for at least a year, attended at least 20 classes in the previous month, has shown application to their training and most importantly been a positive contribution to the community. When, how and why did you get started with us? My husband Tim used to work with Myra Macdonald, who did a fantastic job of promoting CrossFit to me. She suggested I try Southern Crossfit classes... I did that in August 2016 and loved it! I've been hooked ever since. What would be your dream workout? It would have to be one with box jumps, rope climbs and lunges. What workout would you want to avoid? Anything with heavy weights, especially overhead squats. Favourite Crossfit Athlete? Tia-Clair Toomey. Whats the best thing you own that cost under $100? A wooden carved whale from a little market in Tonga. It reminds me of the absolutely amazing experience of swimming with the humpbacks for the first time. Biggest fashion mistake you’ve ever made? According to Tim, my Ugg boot / pyjama combo, despite the fact that I don't wear it in public. Favourite quote? If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try. What's Your fav 90s jam? "Killing in the name" by Rage Against The Machine Last thing you watched on TV? Soccer world cup game - Poland vs Japan Funniest thing that happened to you recently? It happened a few months ago, but still makes me laugh... There was a family of swans in our local park. The young ones were super cute! They ventured very close to the road, so I thought it would be a good idea to get out of the car to take some photos. The daddy swan didn't agree with me and with an astonishing speed run/flew across the park towards me. I haven't noticed it, but the boys, who stayed in the car did. They yelled to warn me and I ended up squealing like a girl and trying to jump in the car before it bites me. I just managed it, while providing a great entertainment to all of the bystanders. Most used emoji? 😘 If you could have one other CrossFit Claremont members body part, what would it be? Kat's abs :)
