There will be on class today at 8am. Note - this class will be about 90 minutes.
Cooper first turned up as a 5 foot not much kid probably tipping the scales at about 45kg. Up to that point we had never really had a anyone start in their mid teens. However as his parents were supportive and he seemed very keen I said as long as was willing to listen, hold back when the coaches told him too and stick to the process we would love to have him. One of his first classes he was telling me about how he did Murph at his old gym and was asking me about the CrossFit Games. I must admit this worried me a little but to his credit he has been nothing but a perfect student and has always had a very mature outlook to training. He had pretty much taught himself kipping Pull Ups and picked up movements fast and it's been great to witness him both mature as an athlete and as a young man. Cooper was the Coaches choice for the Most Improved in 2017. When, how and why did you get started with us? I was watching a catch up marathon of 'The Amazing Race' when my dad called me from work and told me to put on ESPN. They were showing the Crossfit Games 2015 and an interview with Rich Froning. They showed a montage of him handstand walking, snatching and doing muscle ups, which I was dumbfounded by. They then showed the athletes doing the work out 'Murph'. I instantly fell in love with Crossfit as a concept and tried doing Murph at my local gym... which ended up taking me over 2 hours (2 episodes of My Kitchen Rules). At this point I had recently stopped competitive swimming and had started to gain some noticeable fat (as pointed out by my loving mother). We looked for Crossfit gyms in Perth and found Crossfit Claremont (formerly Southern Crossfit). My Mum and I drove past but I was too nervous to get out of the car so she called instead. Jason answered and was more than happy for me to come and do a trial session. Now I'm almost 3 years in and still loving Crossfit as much as I did when I first saw it on TV.
What would be your dream workout? Anything with high rep muscle ups, squat cleans, pistols and wall balls
What workout would you want to avoid? 18.4... enough said
Favourite Crossfit Athlete? Noah Ohlsen I would say has been my all time favourite because of his laid back and fun attitude towards training, competing and life in general. More recently Brent Fikowski has become a favourite due to the fact he isn't the conventional height for a games athlete but has still excelled.
Whats the best thing you own that cost under $100? Bear KompleX 3hole hand grips, since getting them I haven't ripped my hands and the grip they provide is so good that they basically do the reps for you.
Biggest fashion mistake you’ve ever made? Probably the day I came to school thinking it was free dress day and it wasn't. Meaning that whilst everyone else was in uniform I was stuck wearing blue board shorts and my Arsenal Fc shirt.
Favourite quote? "I was having a nightmare. I dreamed I took Liam Neeson's daughter and he was just not having it." Deadpool 2016 (I have many favourites from deadpool/step brothers but this one was the most PG)
Whats Your fav 90s jam? Unfortunately most of Shakira's best songs came after 2000 otherwise 'hips don't lie' would be number 1. But a close second that is from the 90's is 'Shoop' by Salt 'n' Pepper. So probably that one. Last thing you watched on TV? Bachelor in paradise. Funniest thing that happened to you recently? Unfortunately the biggest fashion mistake happened last week so probably that.
Most used emoji? (Laughing face emoji) If you could have one other CrossFit Claremont members body part, what would it be? From day one i've been envious of Jason's calves so probably them.
